Responsibility

Bedford Town Centre

We’re more than just a graphics business, people and the environment matter to us; it’s all part of our make-up.

As designers and innovators we take our responsibilities very seriously and where possible we like to lead the way by giving something back to the communities and industries we serve; we get a great deal of satisfaction in helping others.

We do this in a number of ways:

  • Supporting the next generation of graphic designers.

We have produced a publication, Graphics for Urban Design, which is used by educators and sets the industry standard throughout the UK. We will continue to build on this as we continue to develop and learn new and better ways of serving the industry. It’s the foundation stone on which we base our work.

We also welcome students into our office and give them the opportunity of employment experience and even student sponsorship.

  • Backing the arts and creative endeavour

Urban Graphics sponsored up and coming film director, Andy Rajan, to produce and direct his second feature film ‘Greys inbetween’. Following Andy on his journey, it’s worth noting that he is set to sign a distribution deal that will see the film really take off this year.

Managing Director, Bally Meeda is the founder member of Creative Bedfordshire. Creative Bedfordshire is the hub of creative enterprise in Bedfordshire, which provides an up to date resource valuable to the creative sector and the wider business community.

  • Reducing our carbon footprint

We care about the environment as much as you do and are constantly looking to trim the impact we have on it:

    • We re-use and recycle materials, where we can
    • We procure  all our materials, inks and paper locally and from sustainable sources
    • We’ve invested in, and proactively encourage others to join us in using web technology to reduce travel where appropriate.
  • Supporting the local community

We help a number of charitable organisations and regularly volunteer our time whether that is rolling our sleeves up and providing hands on support, offering advice and coaching in particular services or simply donating some much needed cash.
  • Sharing Knowledge with other businesses

We regularly hold seminars and provide a platform for other businesses and organisations to learn new techniques and share best practice. Additionally we get to learn about other industries too. Some of the organisations we support include:

    • CABE – Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment
    • UDL – Urban Design London
    • UDG – Urban Design Group
    • RTPI – Royal Town Planning Institute
    • RUDI – Resource for Urban Design Information
    • RIBA – Royal Institute of British Architects
